Given annually by Risk & Insurance magazine since 1994, the Teddy Award was named for President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, who introduced one of the first pieces of significant workers’ compensation legislation in the U.S.

Criteria for winning a Teddy Award include developing a workers’ compensation program that achieves measurable performance results, as well as creativity and resourcefulness in solving workers’ compensation challenges. Winners are selected by a panel of industry professionals, including past Teddy Award winners.
